it was 9.45pm and emma called for Aini regarding an ex-pt's casenotes. it was short-listed for audit tomor. all those ladies in green were in the pgmi going through those cases again to ensure everything is good for the audit. just 1 pt and we are having a few boo-boos already. emma was freaking out at the other end of the line. she was suppose to be alone there with the rest of the ladies in green. questions were aimed and shot. sis mag joined her a little while after those arrows started zooming in the room.

it seems things are not as rosy as they should be. there might be some areas that we are lacking in. damn it! its an accident that can't be predicted but we will soon be facing the aftermaths of an unpredicted and innocent mistake. i pray for the favor of GOd and angels to help us through it all.

its been a nerves-wreaking week so far for the ladies in green and all those seniors, especially. everyone is on stand-by. the common greeting is no more "have you eaten? how are you? busy?" but "have they come yet?" o_O|| the common greeting relating to the auditing process is ringing from the managers to the porters. everyone is on high alert! this is more code red than the our last birdie-hawk exercise, i feel. wish everyone will learn the needed but still pass the audit with impressive and unexpected results and grace!

my shift had been amended to be morning tomor, i remembered it was evening last week when i checked it. but now... =( i wish the auditors will breeze through our side (i heard they went to 63c and commented "lets get out of here, its so hot") and not stay too long. better still DON'T COME at all!!! oh God... if You make it happen that way, (protect our ward from the auditors) i will promise to be a good girl! (like as if i am not good like that sia...hahaha...)

i like what Sis Mag said today "JCI is good.... its good to go throught the process but not the audit" haha... meaning, its good to through the preparation but not having the acutal audit in our ward! hehee... BINGO! for a moment i totally sync in with her thoughts! LOL!!

acutally JCI is great! the consultants are so jittery abt it and i even heard a consultant buttering his HO for not doing things right! haha.. he said "its a crucial time now. if you said you had checked, you must document it down. now it is the JCI period if you don't document it down you will get it from the auditors" haha... its the 1st time i am sensing Drs being on the same line with the nurses! haha... last time was never mind lar, why nurses are so fussy one? must this and that, i already ABC already what... blah blah blah... haha... suddenly it felt like we are really a team! fighting against the intruders auditors. haha.... ya... it felt great. i bet SARs time was just like that? everyone was looking out for each others' back? oh! i even heard the NCs came down to the wards to help with basic nursing care!!! i am so surprise! hehee... cool...cool... regardless of ranks and color we are united as 1! wow...

3 more days to the end of the battle! fight on warriors of sgh, fight on! we sure overcome and earn that golden standard! and then... we will get our well-deserved break, celebration and rewards?! =) heehe... i bet this year's nurse's day celebration will be even more grand than the previous one! heehee... looking forward to that sia...

there's a pt with this diagnosis. i heard it once and i thot it was some skin condition plus the derm team had been seeing her. but she was under onco team. i was puzzled for a few days. finally i am 'energised' enough to do a little reading up and i found it is actually a skin disease found with some idiopathic rheumato roots to it and with some muscle weakening or so. but it had always been assiocated with malignancy.

i did the dressing for the pt for the past 2 days and it reminded me of the inital state of CA breast tumor 'eating' out to the skin surface plus the foul smelling element. her heart is not in very good condition and i am sad for her. apparently her skin had never been good all her life and the 'rottening' started to be beyond control recently thus she was warded.

her skin (the rotting one) looks like lotus' fruit. its really ekkkekk...

associating food to work is a HUGH TURN OFF! thats why i had refused to opt working in OT (smell of burning meat aka flesh + blood and the sight of human like pieces of chucky meat) and surgery ward (meat- raw, red and sometime disgusting.. how to eat another med-raw beef stake after that?)

took a 'long leave' to study for my exam thus have the luxuary of having sat and sun off. (nurses are such sad batch of human being...) since it was sat evening, hubby and me went to bugis to take a look at the new revamped mall. everywhere we turn was Food and more FOOD! haha... i told hubby that's because that IS the ONLY money making industry in singapore.

bugis parco basement had all those small outlet selling 'eat while u walk' food. so i was happily munching on this corn dog of such when we past the soup shop and saw Sharon Boo PL (ah lian?! heheee). with my full mouth, i gestured hello and pointed at my hubby and walked off. haha... after that i felt a little funny. i told my hubby that i think i carried myself with such weird GRACE haha... like a glutton that cares nothing more than my mouthful of munchies. haha.. HE TOTALLY AGREED!  haha... then i suggest we walk back and say hi, he thot i was just PLAIN CRAZY! and i think so too... haha... i bet Sharon and friends have the same idea too... haha...

so... to retify the mistake... here is my big HELLO to SHaron and friends! hahaha... =P heehee...  hope u enjoyed ur dinner. =)

anyway, i enjoyed my short trip to bugis cuz i bought dvd-"August Rush" and cd-"Astrud Gilberto's silver collection". i had some soeul food (i don't think i will eat that again) and JCO's coffee and donuts(its complimentary to the drink lar). the JCO donuts are simply yummy... BEST IN SINGAPORE i dare say!

 Consistency

i remember during my productivity lesson i was taught that accurancy is not as important as consistency, unless accurancy is also within the releam of consistency. cuz if the machine consistently yield the same result (although not the expected) as engineers we are to and can shift it to zero error by adjusting the necessary. however is that the same for human beings?? what does the management do to retify problem of consistent poor work performance?

there is this pt laying next to my counter. she is clinically ill but otherwise seems well. she is often drowsy thus sleeping and i realised she was not eating well. ok, i admit she seems getting better than when she 1st came in. her team however seems to be going easy with her and i strongly think that '老子' doesn't know his patient very well lor.

i had not nurse this pt for 2 or 3 days in between so i don't know if she had been through this and that. but her team ought to know mah. he ordered this test which the pt had already done 2 days ago when the nurses tell him, he was like 'is it?' *faint* and still want to argue!! the nurse that push the pt tat day and stay with her at the lab was in the room lor! *faint* then since that '老子' was in the room, i pointed that the pt's IMR diet had been on NBM and never r/v! pt is already eating for days liao. ok, maybe i was nasty to say "please change, if JCI track this pt record for audit we will surely fail one lor". so he change the imr order. than i told him that pt is not swollowing well maybe should refer ST. he just brush it off and said "tmr lar" huh?in my mind: i thot ST work til 5pm on weekday? i questioned him no more. my conclusion... '老子' is kena_sai!!

at 5 pm, i heard from the PM girl that this pt is for transfer back to the principle ward. but she is not B2 and not starting chemo why going upstair leh, i wonder. my only conclusion is tat '老子' can't stand the idiots (the nurses here?) that seems to think so highly of themselves to suggest this and that to him. but dealing with him only for 2 days i realised tat he is plain LAZY lor!! everything tmr... no wonder '马丽n' didn't lend him a helping hand a few days ago... but then again '马丽n' is not known for being helpful one lor...

PLEASE... NO MORE 'BLOODY' OVERFLOW liao!! saya nak muntah darah *vomits*... >=P hey my malayu pow-er sia?! =P

i enjoy PM and ND shift cuz i am dealing with only 1 set of Drs. unlike AM shift, there are just too many Drs around and different discipline rarely enjoy helping each other out. i don't blame any of them afterall who the heck knows other teams' patients and they have tons of patients to care for under their own team too.

today HO and MO were both familiar faces. HO was the one caring for Endo Team but heard he will be going to Onco the next posting so won't see him anymore in our ward. MO used to work in our ward in his younger days. always know him as the Mr Nice guy but never got to know him personally. sometime i find it embarassing to talk to him cuz of what i had witnessed. i don't know why but i fear that he will be embarass to face us, so i felt embarass to see him. err... can understand? but i think he is far beyond that! he is really professional and certainly a gentleman!

after he got hitch, he remain as good friend with our ward girls. i think the relationship he built with the ward's girls were beyond 'motives' but real friendship. i am such a 小人! *slap myself* just this evening, because he was probly busy when i called him, the call was diverted to the voice mall. so i hang up. unexpectedly after 5 minutes, he actually called back!! CALL BACK!?!?! i never met a Dr that had ever call back after seeing a miss call! haha... i was WOWed!! so i rattled on the list of things that needs his attention. in fact he could simply pass it for the team Drs to do tomor but he agreed to do it during his on-call! WOW...DOUBLE WOW!! i am simply amazed by him!!!

such great Dr should get lots of praise and climb up the ladder fast..fast...fast... but i don't think life is really that fair. whatever it is, if he ever become a private practise GP i will certainly be sure that his patients will love him to bits! even i will recommend my family and friends to him sia...

Wow!! I love to watch debates!! =) I got the honor to support our own SGH team today at the debate. The best by-product was that I got to watch the other debate where CGH fought against KKH!

The speakers from CGH and KKH were simply great, beyond words! They had the poise, the body language and their voice was just right. WOW!! I always thought these 2 hospitals breed the best debate team. haha... ops... Did I unintendedly said something bad against our own home team?! If I did, I don't really mean to.

Round 2 was SGH vs the Centers (heart center, eye center, dental center, cancer center). Ok, SGH lost but I personally felt the motion was not a very well written one. Or perhaps the points delieveried were not convincing enough for me to feel strongly for either of the team. Err... Sorry to say but it was rather boring compared to the intensed round 1. Both teams' speakers (except for 1 or 2) were soft-spoken and not very persuasive in their arguement.

1 thing that I absolutely CANNOT stand was the rude remarks that certain debator made. I felt it was personal and certainly not OBJECTIVE. Making rude remarks do NOT strengthen the argument, in fact it only helps to discount the person's sportmanship! *sigh*

My prediction for the final is that KKH will win and the best speaker will goes to the KKH's team too. I heard KKH had won the nursing debate for at least 2 times since it started in 2003! hm... I wonder who is the coach behind this team of debating group; must be some WISE man... 高人. Should invite that 高人 to our TM meeting someday. =)

recently my 'new' room had been infected with GS and Onco pts. come to a point i can just look at the diagnosis/ consultant and know who is the MO/ HO to call. =] wonder if it is good or not.

so we have these onco pt. sweet ladies with no hair and edematous here and there. they were referred to hospice care of some sort. either in-patient or home care. despite the in providers for home care- hospice care, lots of terminally ill patients are still not being cared for at home. either family lack the manpower or are fearful- not knowing how to care for the patients. this is the time for the in-patient hospice... yet... with Dover park, Assis, St.Joseph and Bright vision there seems to be none catered for the muslim. err... i know all the other hospices are willing to take in the muslim patients, if the patients and families are willing. but... there will always be a reserve in the hearts of the families/ patients. such as food will be only non-pork, non-lard but not halal? religious practise will the nuns or fathers coming over everyday to ask me to believe in Jesus and Mary? will there be non-stop Buddhist chant playing by my bedside or worst still over the PA system?!

so.... a nich area of muslim or malay focus hospic is desperately in need! i have no money. if i have the resources i will surely invest in this. nurses speaking in malay and having religious leaders to pray with the bedridden muslim during their last days. i had seen patients so fearful of dying that they will keep pressing the call bell for attention-when there is actually nothing wrong with her. yet because i am a chinese and can't speak malay, i can't comfort her. but when 1 of the malay stuff spoke to her and told her that dying is nothing to be fearful of cuz she is going to meet with Allah. the patient relaxs and the idea of seeing her Allah and the rest that he will grant her from the suffering must had been very comforting cause she slept well after that and didn't press the call bed for the entire night and the 2 days that followed before her death. She was able to smile and talk and thanks the staff the day before she was 'leaving'.

sometime faces of those patients that had died will remain in my mind. it was never fearful to 'see' them again in my thoughts or dreams cause our relationship was beyond the basic differences of living vs the died.... ops.. did i stray? yah... so for those with the money, influence and resource out there... think about this business opportunity that will not only make money but may also give hope to the 'hopeless'... MALAY/ MUSLIM FOCUS HOSPICE... =)
